Addendum A – Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: August 28, 2025

1. Scope of Policy

This Policy applies to all users of the Site, including visitors, registered users, and contributors, and governs all interactions with the Site and its services.

2. Definitions

2.1 “User” refers to any individual or entity accessing or using the Site.

2.2 “Content” includes text, images, data, software, and other materials submitted or accessed through the Site.

2.3 “AI Tools” refers to any artificial intelligence features, including automated decision-making, content generation, or personalization technologies.

3. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

3.1 Post or Share Prohibited Content

  • Unlawful, threatening, harassing, degrading, hateful, or intimidating content
  • Defamatory, fraudulent, or tortious material
  • Obscene, indecent, pornographic, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate content
  • Content protected by intellectual property rights without prior consent
  • Content that you know to be false, deceptive, or materially misleading, including but not limited to misrepresenting your experience, qualifications, or affiliations in resumes, profiles, or other user-submitted materials.

3.2 Engage in Illegal Activities

  • Encourage or instruct others in criminal conduct
  • Share material that could result in civil or criminal liability

3.3 Distribute Malicious Software

  • Viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, or any code intended to harm, disrupt, monitor, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data

3.4 Send Unsolicited Communications

  • Advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or investment solicitations

3.5 Disclose Unauthorized Information

  • Share non-public information about any company or individual without proper authorization

3.6 Commit Fraud or Abuse

  • Use the Site for fraudulent, unlawful, or abusive purposes, including defamation, harassment, stalking, or threats

3.7 Violate Privacy Rights

  • Collect or harvest personal data from other users without their express consent or a lawful basis, unless permitted under a separate agreement with Workstory

3.8 Impersonate or Misrepresent

  • Impersonate any person or entity, including Workstory representatives
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity

3.9 Create False Profiles

  • Create a VisualCV or user profile that impersonates someone else or represents fictional characters, animals, places, or objects

3.10 Disrupt Site Operations

  • Interfere with the Site’s functionality or the servers and networks used to operate it

3.11 Restrict Access to Others

  • Prevent others from using the Site, including through hacking or defacing any portion of it

3.12 Engage in Unauthorized Commercial Use

  • Advertise or offer to sell or buy goods or services without Workstory’s express prior written consent

3.13 Exploit Site Content

  • Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or otherwise exploit any part of the Site for commercial purposes, or offer access to your Account or the Services to any third party on a commercial basis, without Workstory’s express prior written consent

3.14 Reverse Engineer or Modify

  • Modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Site

3.15 Remove Intellectual Property Notices

  • Remove copyright, trademark, or proprietary rights notices from Site materials

3.16 Frame or Mirror the Site

  • Frame or mirror any part of the Site without Workstory’s express prior written consent

3.17 Automate Access or Scraping

  • Use robots, spiders, search/retrieval applications, or other automated/manual tools to retrieve, index, scrape, or data mine Site content without authorization

3.18 Create Unauthorized Databases

  • Systematically download and store Site content to build a database

3.19 Misuse AI or Automated Tools

  • Use AI systems, bots, or automated tools to interact with the Site in ways that circumvent intended functionality, violate rate limits, or extract data without authorization

3.20 Train Models

  • Use any Content, AI-generated output, or other data from the Site to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve any artificial intelligence model, machine learning algorithm, or similar system.

4. Security Obligations

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for all activity under their account. You may not share your account or access credentials with others and must notify Workstory immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.

5. Prohibited Competitive Use

You may not use the Site or its services to develop, support, or enhance a competing product or service, including scraping, data extraction, or training competing systems.

6. Protection of Intellectual Property

You may not attempt to extract, replicate, or reverse engineer proprietary algorithms, models, or data from the Site.

7. Resource Abuse and Fair Usage

You may not use automated systems in a manner that imposes unreasonable or disproportionately large loads on our infrastructure. Excessive bandwidth use, API calls, or storage abuse may result in suspension or restrictions.

8. Monitoring and Enforcement

Workstory reserves the right to monitor user activity and investigate any suspected violations of this Policy. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Site at our sole discretion.

9. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this Acceptable Use Policy, please contact us at legal@workstory.com with relevant details.

10. Modifications to Policy

Workstory may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Reporting Security Incidents

If you discover a security vulnerability in the Site, you agree to report it responsibly to legal@workstory.com and not exploit or publicly disclose it.

12. Consequences of Violation

Violations of this Policy may result in warnings, temporary suspension, permanent termination of access, or referral to law enforcement authorities. Workstory reserves the right to enforce appropriate remedies at its sole discretion.

13. Compliance with Laws

Users must comply with all applicable local and international laws, including but not limited to export control, data protection, privacy, and intellectual property regulations.

14. Jurisdiction and Governing Law

This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein.

15. AI-Specific Use Clause

Users may not use AI-generated content from the Site to mislead, impersonate, or violate intellectual property rights. AI tools are provided for informational and productivity purposes only.
